The Supreme Court ruled on guns, abortion, social media, the homeless and former President Trump during its 2023-24 term.

It closed the year with a highly controversial decision that declared presidents and ex-presidents are largely immune from criminal prosecution over their official actions while in the White House.

In addition, the high court said people subject to domestic violence restraining orders do not have an unfettered right to carry a gun, but at the same time invalidated a federal regulation that outlawed rapid-fire bump stocks.

In three cases involving Trump, the majority ruled in his favor each time.

And the court cleared the way for more aggressive actions to clear homeless encampments in California and the West.
